Fundamentals of Contemporary Aikido
This course will teach the fundamentals of aikido from a self-defense perspective focusing on movement, balance, biomechanics, body control (of self and partner/opponent) and introducing core aikido techniques and principles, such as blending and redirecting of force. Pracitioners of all experience and ages are welcome. The course will be dynamic and appropriate training will be provided to challenge any level. Beginners will be shown the basics and more advanced and experienced students will refine techniques that blend traditional aikido with reality-based training.
Please note, traditional aikido mat work (rolling, throws, takedowns, and restraints) will not be taught during this session.
